Layer animation - Flashing layers - Not repeaded

This tutorial will teach you how to make flashing layers, like this:

1
Creating the animation for the first layer

The first step in this tutorial is to add the layers you would like to use. You can select any kind of layers, texts, headings or images. You are free to customize them at this step, too.

Decide which layer will be shown when the slider loads, select it, and add a new OUT animation by going to its Animation tab. Select a default animation or create your own. Then click on the more button at the Layer window:

Add a new animation step, drag it before your other animations:

Then make sure you set the Opacity and the Delay to 0. You can adjust the duration if you would like to. Make sure that you have the Instant out turned on.

Now click on the Apply button to close the window and save your animations.Your timeline should look like this:

2
Creating the animations for the other layers

Select the layer that should come next, go to its Animations tab and add a new IN animation. You can select one from the predefined ones or create your own. Make sure you haven't turned on the Repeatable option.

Now add some OUT animations to this layer. Before you would click on apply, add a new animation step, drag it before your other animations:

Then make sure you set the Opacity and the Delay to 0. You can adjust the duration if you would like to. Make sure that you have the Instant out turned on.

Copy the animations from this layer to your other layers, except the first one, as that only needs an out animation.

Move the animation at the timeline. Each in animation should start at the same time as the previous layer's second out animation.

When this is done, select the last layer, and remove its OUT animation.

If you are using Smart Slider 3 3.1.x you can remove the OUT animation from the Layer window. Just click the trash icon at the OUT animation's panel.

And you're done.

The animations in this tutorial are shown only once. If you would need the animation to constantly repeat, check out this article.
